Enjoying the view (yes, we made then hold still for this one) and remains of the old lifeboat station.

We’re headed to Freshfield north of Liverpool on the west coast for a day at the beach and hiking to celebrate our 10th anniversary. It’s a beautiful day, we stopped for coffee and chocolate croissants for breakfast at an excellent little local bakery, and we loaded up on bread and cheese at the Morrisons for a picnic lunch – we’re set!

Minster Abbey in York was fantastic!  I enjoyed the outside of it even more than the inside, and the inside was quite impressive.  York is an hour drive, so we’ll be back.

Heading to York

Thanks to the WordPress developers that created the iPhone app!  The likelihood of me making more posts has just risen dramatically.  Unfortunately, I still have to use it properly.  I entered a long post during the drive to York, and when I went to add a picture and chose to add one directly from the camera, the picture with a blank blog entry, overwrote the draft blog entry that I thought I was merely adding to.  Slightly frustrating, but I’ll sort it out.

Details aside, I plan to use this blog to track our travels – both for my own benefit to keep straight all the places we visit, and to share them with our friends and family.  I might also use this to keep track of the various beers we sample during our stay here in England.  There are a lot, and it would be nice keep straight what we’ve tried and liked.  One thing at a time, though!

We’re on the ship finishing lunch. We walked with our bags from Port Authority Bus Terminal. It was about 6 blocks, but not too busy on a Sunday afternoon. Checked in at the hotel and then headed out for an early dinner. Had Thai and then frozen yogurt. Had the kids back to the hotel and asleep pretty quickly. All that walking wore them out! Caching with Stu followed. It was a gorgeous evening to be out. This morning after breakfast went for a walk and saw the Intrepid.

We’ve left DC, and we’re headed to New York City. Showed up an hour early as recommended, and ended up getting seats on the earlier bus. Getting to the bus was a bit of a coordination challenge. My dad and I drove separately to the metro with all the bags. Olivia, her folks and all the kids walked there from my dad’s place. They took a bunch of the bags, and my dad and I headed to National Airport to return the rental car. We all linked back up at Union Station. From there the real challenge came in shlepping our bags the 2 1/2 blocks north to the Grayhound station. We did it, and as I type this, we’re driving into Delaware.

So at least I could manually push out a post with Blog RSS Feed Reader. I’m posting this to see if it automatically will pick it up and show up in Facebook. What I don’t like is that the manual post had a giant icon and had a big self advertising in-line tag line. Just a link would be fine. Might have to keep looking.

Trying Blog RSS Feed Reader. Simply RSS didn’t appear to do anything.
